Tour Description

Just outside Budapest lies a place where past and present quietly overlap. Tököl Airport still sees occasional takeoffs, but much of it feels frozen in another era—empty hangars, abandoned boarding halls, mossy runways, and retro Soviet-era infrastructure that hasn’t seen regular commercial flights in decades.

On this guided tour, you’ll step into the off-limits areas of this semi-active airport: wander through deserted terminals, peek into old crew quarters, and stand on tarmac that once hosted fighter jets and military transports. The scale is massive, the mood is eerie, and the silence is louder than any engine roar.

You’ll get rare, exclusive access to zones generally closed to the public—and along the way, hear stories that weave together Cold War secrets, aviation lore, and the beauty of deserted concrete landscapes. This isn’t a museum tour—it’s geared for urbex fans, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone drawn to raw, atmospheric exploration.

Tököl is about a 30-minute drive from Budapest—or around one hour by public transport, and we can arrange a transfer from the city as an add‑on too.
